Honoring Laura Weiss-Corbin
Nevada's 2024 Mother of the Year
Laura Weiss-Corbin is a mother of six, her children ages ranging from 27 to twin 3 year olds. She has a masters degree in marriage and family therapy and co-owns her practice, Rooted Life Counseling Center in the state of Nevada.Laura's path to motherhood started out with much prayer and fight. At 19 she found her self a single mom. Laura found true purpose and meaning in her life through motherhood and married a man who loved kids as much as she did. Laura added student to her roles of wife and mother, eventually earning a masters degree. During this journey Laura and her husband felt a call to foster children in the Clark County area. She learned much about advocating for the rights of these young children. Together they fostered 5 babies, planning to adopt a pair of twins. After 20 years together, Laura lost her husband to a sudden heart attack and went on to adopt the babies on her own.
She prays her story will help clients in her practice persevere through trials and trust God’s plan for their lives.
Today Laura speaks to women’s groups by partnering with several churches throughout the valley teaching on women issues, mental health, marriage and parenting. She has since remarried and has been entrusted with even more children that fill her with so much love. They give her the determination to walk in joy each day.
